Everything you need to know about finding and buying cycling gear on VeloBand.
Finding What You Need
You can start browsing from the homepage, where you will find recently added listings, featured products, and popular categories. Use the search bar at the top to search by keyword, or click on a category to browse.
On the search results page, use the filters on the left to narrow down by price, condition, brand, and more. You can also set your location to find listings near you and sort by distance.
Saving Searches
Found the right combination of filters? Click the heart icon next to the search results count to save your search. You can access your saved searches anytime from your dashboard.
Reviewing a Listing
When you click on a listing, you will see the full details: photos, description, specs, price, and seller information. Take your time to review everything before making a decision.
What to Look For
- Photos: Browse all photos using the gallery. Look for close-ups of the frame, drivetrain, wheels, and any signs of wear.
- Condition: Check the condition badge (New, Excellent, Good, Fair, Poor). This is set by the seller, so cross-check it against the photos.
- Serial Verification: Look for the green “Serial Verified” badge. This means the serial number has been checked against stolen bicycle databases and no reports were found.
- Seller Ratings: Check the seller's rating and review count. Click to read individual reviews from past buyers.
- Delivery Options: See how the seller is willing to deliver. Options include local pickup, meetup, shipping, and Exchange Points.
Adding to Watchlist
Not ready to buy yet? Click the heart icon on any listing to save it to your watchlist. You can compare saved listings later from your dashboard.
Contacting the Seller
Have a question about the listing? Click “Contact Seller” on the product page to start a conversation. You can ask about the condition, negotiate the price, or arrange pickup details.
Making an Offer
If the listing allows offers, you will see a “Make Offer” button alongside “Buy Now.” Enter the amount you would like to pay and optionally add a message explaining your offer.
The seller can accept, decline, or counter your offer. If they counter, you will see their proposed price and can choose to accept or let it go. Once an offer is accepted, you can proceed to checkout at the agreed price.
Arranging a Deal Directly
After messaging with a seller, you might agree on a price and arrange to meet in person. You can pay with cash or e-transfer when you pick up the item. This is common for local deals and VeloBand supports it.
However, when you pay through the platform you get:
- Payment protection: Your money is held until you confirm you received the item. If something goes wrong, you have a record and a path to resolution.
- Transaction history: A full record of the purchase in your dashboard, including order details, seller info, and communication history.
- Access to Exchange Points: Only platform payments can use the Exchange Point network for verified drop-off and pickup.
- Shipping option: Buying from a seller in another city is only possible through platform payments.
Checkout and Payment
When you are ready to buy, click “Buy Now” (or “Checkout” if you have an accepted offer). You will be taken to the checkout page where you can:
- Choose a delivery method from the options the seller has made available: local pickup, meetup, shipping, or Exchange Point.
- Enter your shipping address if you chose shipping.
- Enter billing details and review the order summary with all fees.
- Pay securely with your credit card through Stripe. Apple Pay and Google Pay are also available.
Delivery Options Explained
Local Pickup
Pick up the item directly from the seller's location. The address details are shared after the purchase is confirmed.
Meetup
Meet the seller at a public location they have specified. The meetup location is shown on the listing.
Shipping
The seller ships the item to your address. Shipping cost is shown on the listing and added to your total at checkout. You will receive tracking information once the seller ships. Note that shipping is available for parts, accessories, and gear. Complete bicycles from individual sellers are not available for shipping.
Exchange Point
The safest option. The seller drops off the item at a partner bike shop, and you pick it up when it is ready. The shop verifies the bike against the listing (brand, model, size, and specs) before you collect it. No need to coordinate with the seller directly. Note that this is a listing verification, not a condition inspection or value evaluation.
Tracking Your Orders
After purchasing, you can track all your orders from the Dashboard > Orders page. Orders are grouped into Active, Completed, and Cancelled tabs so you can quickly find what you need.
Each order shows the current status, from payment held through to completion. You can also contact the seller directly from the order if you have questions.
Staying Safe
Safety checklist for buyers:
- Check the serial verification badge before buying.
- Read the seller's reviews and ratings.
- Ask questions through the platform messaging, not external channels.
- Use Exchange Points for high-value purchases.
- Pay through VeloBand, never by direct bank transfer or cash outside the platform.
- If a deal seems too good to be true, it probably is.
